We are the Friend Brothers - aiming to become the first four brothers to row any ocean as they compete in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2022

The “Friend” brothers, two sets of twins only 18 months apart in age. The aim is to become the first four brothers to row any ocean.

In December 2022, they will be attempting to row unassisted over 3,000 miles across the Atlantic ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua.

They will be setting 2 world records:

The first 4 brothers to row an ocean.

The first 2 sets of twins to row an ocean.

Growing up together in the green hills of Devon, adventure has come naturally, as has the competitive need to push each other further, faster and higher. Now older and following different career and personal paths, this challenge is the opportunity to restrengthen the bonds of brotherhood and raise money and awareness for causes close to our hearts.

In order to succeed, Jack, Hamish, Arthur and Euan will need to come together as a team to conquer the Atlantic Ocean and overcome the immense mental, physical and logistical challenge it will take to do so.

A key motivation for all of the brothers as they go through the inevitable highs and lows of this journey is the target of raising £150,000 for some truly fantastic causes.

Each of the selected charities have close personal connections to the brothers:

They have seen first hand the impact Drive Forward has on young care leavers in London through Jack's work for the charity and through all of the brothers supporting their work as mentors.
CHAT provides a vital service for those struggling with housing issues in Mid Devon, the local community in which we all grew up. They provide much needed first line support and advice to keep people at risk in their accommodation or help them back into homes. CHAT also offers debt and money advice and runs a foodbank.
The brothers have all personally witnessed the incredible work that Kiwoko Hospital carries out. Kiwoko manages to stretch funds and resources to the furthest possible lengths in treating the poorest communities in the Luwero region of central Uganda.

The Route

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will take us more than 3,000 miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain to Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda. The race will commence in early December 2022 with up to 30 teams participating from around the world. Over the 3,000 mile journey, they will be battling sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race. They will be left to their own thoughts, the vast expanse of the ocean, and the job of getting the boat safely across the pond.
