Post Lockdown Summer Fashion Trends

In the United Kingdom, since the 19th of July Boris Johnson and the government gave the green light for lockdown to be lifted. Which meant all sectors of life in the United Kingdom could resume as normal after 16 months. With the United Kingdom and London back in play what are the hot trends we should be looking out for.

Here are three London Fashion Brands to look out for post lockdown Summer Fashion Trends.

Shaku Design

ABOUT SHAKU - Easily forgotten on the stacked pages of a notebook, her idea for a collection of luxury scarves – wearable works of art – was born. A celebration of femininity and uncompromising craftsmanship, the collection combines skilled hand-drawn artistry with unrivalled print technology. Made with the finest quality threads and printed with premium dyes the brand was a year in the making before coming to life in the prestigious factories of Como, Italy.

Shakera (‘Shaku’ was her nickname) comes from a family of dressmakers. Born and raised in Mumbai, her mother and aunt both worked as tailors. She learned the intricacies of hand embroidery from them but left for England at nineteen years old to marry and raise her own family.

She forged a successful career in property but always harbored a creative side, a passion she fulfilled with drawing and painting in her spare time. For a long time, Shakera nursed a desire to bring her art to the world and it is together with her eldest daughter, Sonera that the dream has become a reality.

The London-based brand is synonymous with time-honoured techniques, tradition and modernity, and is in line with slow fashion. Sophisticated designs have multi-generational appeal and are heirlooms to be passed down, not discarded within a season. Immune to fleeting, passing trends, they are intended to be loved and worn for decades to come.

In limited edition runs but with a one-size-fits-all approach, Shaku is envisioned to be worn in multiple styles, folded into a triangle and knotted in the neckline of a cashmere sweater; tied as a bandana or looped around the handles of a classic handbag. The collection puts the needs and personality of the wearer at the fore; making the possibilities endless. “My vision is to enrich the individual style of each wearer by expressing an aspect of their personality,” comments Shakera Tayub.

Products include scarves, candles and an upcycled cushion collection made from the remainder fabric used from their silk scarf collection.

Everything is made in Great Britain.

Shaku Design are located at 9 St John's Wood High Street, just a 10 minute walk away from St John's Wood tube station.
