Inside McLaren Technology Centre with Allwyn

@londonbeautifullife got the chance to visit the swanky HQ of McLaren Technology Centre with Allwyn and this is what went down.

We visited the beautiful building and home of McLaren in Woking, Surrey with Allwyn, the multi-national lottery-led gaming company, for the Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying Raceview.

This exceptional visit took us behind the scenes of McLaren HQ and we saw some of the most expensive and beautiful motors to ever exist.

Allwyn is an official partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1® Team, who was crowned both the 2025 Formula 1® Constructors' Champions and the Formula 1® Drivers’ Champions for the first time since 1998. Both share the principles of innovation, high performance, excellence and a passion for winning.

This partnership creates moments for fans to engage with a Championship winning team and brings moments of anticipation to life for drivers, fans, and I suppose people like me. Thanks to Allwyn I got this unique opportunity to get closer to this F1 team than I ever thought possible.

Turning up to McLaren Technology Centre was like turning up to an out of this world town in something you would see in Star Wars. The building is beautiful and the surrounding greenery is refreshing.

The moment you walk in you are greeted by reception and some pretty cool motors. Some valued in the high millions of pounds.

You automatically want to take photos of everything you see - it is mind blowing to even be there let alone be within reaching distance to historic cars.

Our tour started at the Trophy cases with a history on each award. When an award is won by a driver, it only makes its way into the trophy cabinet after being distributed to everyone involved in the winning race. It was interesting to learn that the drivers themselves don't keep the awards. Yes an award was won by the driver but also by the hundreds of people involved - it's nice to hear it being celebrated by everyone.

A highlight of the tour was the lego McLaren car. You can sit in the car and there is a button that makes an engine-like sound.

With the tour you get to go behind the scenes on how the drivers interact with the control room - wherever they are in the world - with Woking, Surrey. And we got to stay there and watch the strategists at work throughout Qualifying.

Ahead of the session we played The Allwyn League - a predictions game on the F1 Predict platform that is designed to deepen fans’ connection to the races. It allows them to get involved by predicting the outcome of key moments during a Grand Prix weekend to win prizes like Grandstand tickets and merch.

I gave it a go, but not all of my predictions were correct. Perhaps I should have waited until after we’d spoken to the McLaren experts - they were so knowledgeable and helped dramatise the anticipation ahead of the Qualifying session. I recommend giving it a try, it’s a great game for any F1 to play.
